History:
Pombhurna taluka is one of the tribal and backward talukas in Chandrapur district of Nagpur division of Maharashtra state. This taluka known as an economically and socially backward taluka. This taluka is surrounded by forest, and had high school and intermediate level of educational facilities. For higher education, rural students had no choice but the city. Thinking about the future of rural students, Late Principal Vasantrao Dontulwar and his friends started higher educational institute in the taluk. It was developed by Late Dr. Vaibhav Dontulwar. As a stroke of fate, misfortune had and both good men left the mortal body. After that, Er. Swapnil Dontulwar, a IIT engineer, took over the responsibility of noble cause. He established the Chintamani Bahuuddeshiya Shikshan Mandal, Ballarpur in the year 2008 to provide the facility of higher education of commerce branch in Pombhurna taluka. After the approval of the Government of Maharashtra, this institute started Chintamani College of Commerce Pombhurna in the year 2009. Initially this college was affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University Nagpur, but Maharashtra Government established a new state university for Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts in the year 2012. Since then the college was affiliated to Gondwana University Gadchiroli and the stream of education continued uninterrupted. Being the only commerce faculty college in the taluka, the Maharashtra government provided 100 percent salary grant to the college in the year 2013 under the scheme 'Taluka Ekameva'. The college is providing knowledge acquisition facility to the students of the region in the field of trade, commerce, industry and service and is doing continuous and fundamental work for the overall development of the rural and triable students.
